I was in need for swim trunks, I bought 3 different pairs because I always have to buy a larger waist to accommodate my legs. I bought DC board shorts and Columbia Men's Whidbey II Hybrid Water Short as well. These are the best by far and I might just stock up on them. They look great and have a ties on the inside, so they look snapped up but you can adjust the fit with the ties.The only mesh is the pockets, no netting to rip into you thank god. The quality is great and the girl says my butt looks good. I seriously have a hard time finding something this good. Really worthwhile cannot find one thing wrong.
I love these shorts! 2 real snaps, a zipper fly, and a drawstring in the front make for secure bathing. The only drawback I had was that after swimming there was some slight abrasion from the zipper which was uncomfortable, but I noticed it and changed out of the shorts before there was any real problem. The pockets are mesh, but it does not have that annoying mesh "underwear" inside, which I HATE. The pockets are nice and deep so I can actually carry things in them. The left pocket even has an elastic loop sewn in, so I could secure things in there (keys perhaps, maybe a dive knife? I dunno what!) if I wanted to. The loop feels similar to an elastic hair tie that you would use to keep a ponytail tied up.
They are OK, not great. Material is typical board short material, but my main issue is that back pocket only had a button to keep it closed, would much rather have a zipper (best) or Velcro flap (better) on the back pockets to properly secure items.
The real draw back is that these don't have a draw string. If you're going to go into the water, then your shorts should have then as a just in case. They also are a little on the smaller side. I wear between a 34 and 36, slightly favoring 36 and I bought these in 36 and they were a bit on the tight side, but not totally uncomfortably so.
